Pony camps at Iceford Stables are so enjoyable because not many children are lucky enough to own a pony and some rarely come into contact with ponies at all. Children of all ages and abilities get a chance to find out more about ponies, ride them and help us to look after them.

All instructors are fully qualified and all helpers are experienced. This ensures children are safe while learning and having fun.

Pony camps run 3 mornings a week during all school holidays. The programme for each day will include a progressive set of pony care lectures and practicals where the children will learn about all that is involved with looking after a pony and a 1 hour riding lesson. The aim of our pony camps is to help children broaden their knowledge and experience of ponies in a fun and safe environment.

Children will need to come suitably dressed for the weather, layered clothing is most suitable, plus a light waterproof jacket. Hats and boots can be supplied by Iceford.  Children will also need to bring a packed lunch.

“The advanced camp is an amazing opportunity for the more experienced riders. You get to be really involved in the care of your pony for the three days. It is like owning your own pony. We did all our own mucking out, grooming, feeding and tacking up. I have learnt a lot of skills that you need to have for when you own a pony.  It is a brilliant experience.”

“The pony camp is about having a pony for three days. You will be grooming, feeding, tacking up and lots more. You will be riding as well. I enjoyed looking after my pony. The pony you look after is like your own. I love being with the ponies.”

Our Happy Clients

“I had been asking my mum to bring me horse riding for some time, so she rang Iceford Stables spoke to Lizzy and booked me in. I really loved it and now I’m a couple of years going to Iceford Stables. I love going to pony camp .I learn loads and I even love mucking out. About 3 years ago I got my own pony called Bob, he was too young to break so when the time was right we got Aiden & Lizzy to break him for me. I got loads of up dates on how he was doing during his boot camp! And soon he was ready for me to ride. Aiden & Lizzy took such great care of my pony, I cannot thank them enough and now he is going really well for me.  Thankyou Aiden & Lizzy for everything, looking forward to getting back in the saddle after covid-19”
